I've got a 1210 with a nasty fluid leak from the trunion shaft seal. I see that there's a snap ring and washer outside the seal. The big question is whether the seal can be replaced without tearing the unit apart. Any thoughts on ways to pull this off? The seal in question is the right side seal, not the one on the lever side.

As long as you can get to the seal all you need to do is remove the snap ring and washer then punch a hole in the seal and use a slide hammer to pull it out. Drain the oil to below the level of the seal first.

Has anybody tried this method yet? Sounds like what i had planned to do, but I didn't want to get started and then find a problem that put the tractor on a shelf for a week.

Never done this on this particular machine, but have done a pinion seal on a F150 this way before and it works great.
