Tractor
JD 3520, '71 Case 580CK TLB
New 3520 tractor is in, configured, and ready to go on dealers lot. I signed my paper work, got keys and manuals, and took for a spin through their test field.

But...

They can't get it in the schedule to be delivered until Friday. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Is there a 12 step plan or something to help with my anguish??

Hop on it and drive home via back roads. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You probably have a list of things to do with it.

Read the manual?

Couple ways to look (and feel) about it.

One, they could just let you take it without doing the dealer checks, and take the chance everything is okay. Then you could join the several who have reported on TBN about the dealer didn't check everything out, and you have some tractor problems that need to be addressed (and transporting the tractor is not covered under warranty). So, hope that is one reason they are keeping your tractor until Friday when they can schedule it.

Two, the dealer you bought from may be a good one who is also busy with other customers, and some may have a half a million invested in their farm equipment and they need to get into the fields at this critical time of the year.

Bottom line: I was in the same boat, and climbing the walls waiting for that day to finally come (only to find out they had an emergency and I had to sit through the weekend, as it wasn't ready by Friday).

But you got it right......true test of patience...... Wish you luck. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And I am real envious of you getting your JD 3520, and hope I am in the same position as you are, very soon. Please have the camera ready for some pics when it arrives - or before, if you 'visit' with your new 'babe' again.
What options did you get?

I've kept myself busy. I've read the manual twice and watched the DVD 3 times.

The tractor is completely ready and checked out. They are just extremely busy right now that the season has started.

As far as options:

eHydro
300CX loader
73" HD bucket
Larger filled R4's
Rear third SCV
2 welded on chain hooks on bucket
Bucket level indicator
Telescopic ends (not in yet, but they will field install)
Upgraded cruise (not in yet, but they will field install)

The salesman hadn't sold one with the larger R4's yet, but after seeing mine he says going to start recommending them to customers. It was parked next to another 3520 with the regular R4's and the entire machine just seemed to look more substantial. Much more like a 4x20 from a distance.

I keep telling my self just a few more days.. just a few more days... I figure I can read the manual 8 or 9 more times and watch the DVD on repeat until it arrives. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Or just keep pricing attachments to pass the time.

I bet it'll be running all weekend...rain or shine /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Have fun. I know the feeling!

Great. So I take it that the delivery is all that they have yet to do?

I think I want the smaller (heavier ply) R-4's as that will give me more power to the ground, more protection from puncturing in the woods, and less height on the ROPS (which one can't get without being foldable /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ).

What is the 'upgraded cruise' that you mentioned? Not familiar with that and need to know before ordering. Thanks.

beenthere

The upgraded cruise is the 'car like' cruise button that gives you resume, accel, decel functionality on the switch. Tractor is 'pre-configured' for it -- the dealer only has to add the switch and plug it into the brain.

Post a pic of your machine when you get it.

1)Take your favorite remedy to get some sleep. Mine is dos margaritas y uno martillo. (2 margaritas and 1 hammer).

2) Keep a rag handy to wipe up any excess drool.

3)Be careful not to drive significant other crazy.

4)Go get yourself a couple of 5gal jugs of diesel.

5)Stay online here to read up on all the latest tractor tips.

6)Go looking for some new or used 3 pt implements.

7)Drink more margaritas.

8)Plan what you need to do when you get it.

9)Trim all your trees so your Rops or Canopy will clear.

10)Pick up any debris in your pasture/fields so you don't mow over it.

11)Go to JD everyday to check up and don't forget the drool rag.

12)Call your buddies up for a BBQ but don't tell them about it until it gets there. And please, try to remain calm. We don't want any heart palpitations happening to our new friends.

13) Count green tractors in your dreams...

What I have been doing.

1. Cleaned out space in the shed

2. Scheduled delivery of my rear finish mower before this weekend.

3. Bought a 60" rototiller.

4. Showed the John Deere tractor DVD to all coworkers. Now there are 'No Tractor Talk' signs hanging on my cube. Guess they're not as excited as I am. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

5. Read the manual -- again. Even the safety section.

6. Learning a second language -- Reading the Spanish version of manual.

7. Bought a subsoiler. I hope the tractor gets here soon -- I'm blowing the budget picking up attachments.

8. Beer and benadryl helps you sleep.

9. Scored a load of free manure from my new neighbor. He's even going to spread it for me.

10. Read every post ever put on tractorbynet.com

11. Bought diesel fuel cans.

12. Bought two 20' chains.

Adios /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Whenever possible, I try to fuel from a pump and/or filtered source. It's tough to fill the hood mounted filler, and cans are a good place for dirt and junk to accumulate...
