Found a 3x3x1/4 wall post that gave me minimal drop once I cut the base off of it and drilled a couple 2 1/8” holes for the spears to mount.

What brand spears are you using? I like a 30-36” spear for a 48” deep bale. Doesn’t get stuck .

They came from a place I had never ordered from,

I bought my first pair to go with a QD 1/2” plate I found on Amazon. I thought the plate was a deal so I searched for A good deal on the spikes.

I order the second set after we beat on them a bit.

I welded it out enough I could see how it unloaded itself. I need to build a stand I can back into/drive away from it will stay, when not in use.

How much weight does it need to be stabbed into to stay like that?

You might get away with just "plugging it in" to a bale and be ready to go for the next feeding. Nice fab work.
