Troy-Bilt Tiller Horse
I have 1975 Troy-Bilt Till and I put a Honda 6 horse engine on it about 3 or 4 years ago and i have a problem with it tilling.
I feel that it is not the engine but something else,
When I got the till back in 1975 it would till the hardest clay soil you would throw at it.
Today it will not till the ground even after you sped the ground. It's like the belt is slipping. As soon as you left it out of the ground it goes. the ground is loose and it should go right throw it.

Any ideal what is wrong with it?

Is there any forum from Troy-Bilt?
Are they still built in Troy N.Y.?

Belts slipping or pulley spinning on shaft are the only two things I can think of.

Any ideal what it would cost to replace them?

Love the Tiller, but not the way it will not dig.

Hi fellow Buckeye,
If the belt is slipping.. did you adjust the throw on the engagement lever? That sliding block that has the detent for neutral should only allow about 5/16" between the bracket for the sliding block and the spring tensioned roller that's on the lever when engaged in forward. Of course you adjust it with the engine off. I have lots of clay soil and it really gets to squealing if I'm out of adjustment. Hope this helps. John
