Under the advice of more than one poster, I purchased a Predator engine at Harbor Freight for $99.00. However when installing the drive shaft does not even come close to fitting the pulleys. My Horse is the 4 - Speed with forward/reverse and high/low speeds. The pulleys on this machine are for a 3/4 shaft. My question is could these pulleys have been changed or are the folks putting on the Predators are changing out the pulleys to work with the engine. I am willing to pay more for the 8 HP Predator with the 3/4 inch shaft but I am wondering how this exchange worked for others. Fell free to advise.

I repowered an old push mower of my dad's with the 5.5hp Predator vertical shaft. The crankshaft was the same/correct diameter (7/8") but I had to grind out the keyway slot both wider and longer to fit the original mower's pulleys. Used a fiber wheel in a Dremel. The Predator 6.5 hp horizontal shaft has a 3/4" dia crank per their specs.
