Troy bilt econo horse

Hey all. I just picked up an econo horse this morning. Took it off the trailer and started it up. Got one pass in the garden and bang. The engine dies and now the motor is free spinning when I pull it. No compression. What could this be! Piston?

I'm ticked as I just spent 550 on the thing. Any suggestions would be great

you most likely threw a rod, pull the spark plug and see if the piston moves up and down as you rotate the crackshaft
