TROUBLE WITH KUBOTA?

The worst dealer I went to was Howard Johnson's JD in
Rhode Island. The salesman was the biggest %$#@ HOLE
iv'e ever seen. I asked him for the price on a 4110 he told me I was wasting his time and to get out. So I told him to %$@ him self and left with a smile.

I think this type of tactict is on a dealer by dealer basis. When I was looking the Kubota dealer was the one who did the most competition bashing. The JD dealer did a little. I would only listen to a salesmans knowledge of his own product not the competition's. Personally I think much more can be learned from TRACTOR BY NET than from any dealer. The people here do what they do because they want to, not because they have to sell tractors to make a living.

I never thought about it but you are right the Kubota dealer never bad mouthed any other dealer, but when I looked at the massy's they did have a lot of neg. feedback towards Orange. Funny how after all that I also whent with the KOBUTA!

I received an interesting tidbit of information, while finalizing my tractor deal, last week. The dealership (in SE Ohio) has been in business for over 50 years. Started out as a Ford dealer and added Kubota in the mid-seventies. He's still selling both New Holland and Kubota. I asked which he sells more of - Kubota or NH? His response: "We sell 70 Kubota's to every NH." I asked, "Did you say '7' or '70'." He said, "70." I couldn't believe it! Granted a lot of those sales are probably L&G tractors, but still ...

I hate to prevent not registered people from posting, everyone has a 'first" post and not everyone realizes the first visit how valuable TBN is and that 90 percent of the folks here are sincere, helpfull, ernest and honest people who just want to help other tractor guys out and have some fun with talking tractor, talking tractor is not the same as talking trash ----and Kubota going out of buisness is some kinda trash. Garbage in and garbage out. Anything is possible in this world today but I don't obtain my world information/education from a "salesman" who this week is selling tractors and next week appliances at Sears.

It's Lashley's -out in Quaker City (right on Seneca Lake). Dennis Lashley is a really good guy, and easy to deal with. This was only dealership where I dealt directly with the owner, which was nice. They have also recently opened another store on the north side of Zanesville.

I have heard alot of positives from people who have dealt with Lashleys, including other dealers, and that's quite a compliment.

I apparently hit a few nerves when I posted my question. I am really looking to buy a M6800 and was comparing it to JD and NH. The JD saleman told me exactly what I posted. In addition he even told me that he was trying to sell his brother's Kutoba because his brother was going overseas in the army. It was a 30hp model, I don't know what kind. Anyway, he thought he would get around $7,500 from the Kubota dealer and was only offered $2,500. He also told me war stories about people he knew that couldn't get parts for their Kubota. He said that three Kubota dealers went out of business in a 70 mile area of his store in the last year. This is in Western Kentucky.

I got on line to see what I could find. I found this site for the first time. (What's this deal about registering, apparently another sore spot ). It's a great site and I hope that I can get some help. In fact, I already have. DON"T believe salesmen talking about another product.

Just to show how different things are in different parts of the country, I just learned of another 2 generation tractor dealer who dropped a tractor line.

This dealer had Kubota, New Holland and Massey Ferguson. Keep in mind this is a very rural area and he sells primarily AG tractors but has compacts as well.

When I was there the other day one of the brands was GONE. I asked him why and he said that his facility simply wasn't large enough to support all three and he had to give up the one he sold the least number of. He said that it wasn't a lack of quality or a lack of support from the manufacturer - it was simply volume. He said he really hated to give them up because his father had started selling them about 35 years ago. He had nothing but good things to say about their tractors.

He gave up the blue and kept the orange and red. Go figure.

He had a lot of used tractors on the lot too but none of them were orange. When asked about that he said that he didn't trade for many Kubotas but when he did they sold almost immediately.

Oliver, if I mistook your post as not being sincere then perhaps I was wrong. From time to time there are folks who come about looking to start an arguement, it generally works /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif .
The reason you will want to register is it is like meeting someone and being introduced. Put some real info in your bio and that way people don't confuse you with a troll.
Also you can post pics and stuff when you get your new whatever you get tractor. There is room for every type of tractor and tractor owner here in TBN but just consider Kubota owners may be as proud of their Kubotas as JD owners are proud of their units and neither want to here about why they should have bought a brand X and I imagine that goes the other way too.

I've got no problem with this - as long as you are up front and honest about it. Hiding behind the anonymity of not be registered - is just cowardly in my book.

Register, fill out your bio completely - and enjoy the expierence of TBN. Great site!

WRT registering, there are technical reasons (can post pictures, keep favorite threads, get/send personal notes to others, etc.) and social reasons. By looking at your bio, I can see that you have technically registered, but you have NOT registered with this forum socially. We are here to learn, laugh, kid, and yes, occasionally argue. As I'm sure you'll agree, we would do all of these things in person as well (perhaps at the local watering hole), but NOT until we've met and, generally shook hands with someone. Its just the way our society interacts. Here at our virtual "watering hole", we follow the same standards. ONly instead of shaking hands and introducing ourselves, we register, fill in our bios a with some info, and enter a thread "conversation". Just like in person, I will tolerate, even welcome an occasional interjection from an eavesdropper on the stool next door, but after a while, and enough interjections, introductions are in order. I didn't make up these rules. None of us here did. They have been around for generations. Now, fill in your bio, tell us a little about who you are, pull up a stool and set a spell. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
