Trouble with 1320 ford tractor.

I have a ford New Holland, hyd filter plugging up with metal. I have taken the transmission apart and fixed any problems there. I narrowed it down to the hyd pump or the hydrostatic motor. Any suggestions on how to pin point my problem.

You could install high pressure filter after the suspect component, and verify which unit is shedding particles.

Whenever you find the problem, you should flush the complete hyd system.

You could also have a hyd shop test your hyd pump or hyd motor for efficiency loss.

If it is supposed to pump 5 GPM, at 2500 psi, and only pumps a max of 1500 psi, then something is wrong, probably wear.

JJ thank you for your reply. One of the problems here is the hyd fluid is shared with all components of this tractor even the power steering. I have a component coming apart producing enough metal to plug the filter. However all components are still functioning to specs as of now. I first blamed the transmission, I split the tractor and found I needed to replace two gears two bearings and a shaft. However I don't believe that there was enough wear here to produce the metal required to plug a filter.

I reassemble the tractor after thoroughly cleaning and flushing the system.The tractor worked great for about 6 hours. Then I started to loose drive power, I removed the filter to find it plugged again with very fine metal fragments. This material looks very much like the gray never seize all over the filter element.
