Grading Trouble getting my steering box back together

I have a YM1700 and today I took the steering box off in order to get access to the clutch. I had to remove the steering shaft to get the steering box off and now that my clutch is fixed I can not seem to correctly re-assemble the steering box. I've tried and tried to get the worm shaft and the toothed block that threads onto the worm shaft into the correct position but I just can't seem to get it done. Can someone please help?

I might be wrong but from the way it sounds, you probably still have the steering wheel attached to the shaft and it is still sticking through your dash. You will probably never get it together that way.You will need to remove the shaft from the steering wheel/dash & do it like this --
