A lot of effort from a lot of people went into making the thread helpful to OP and future readers. All that effort was ruined by a couple idiots and over-moderation.

A lot of us go through that phase. Occasional disconnect from forums serves to protect sanity and re-establish proper perspective. He should take his time. For all we know, he's in Waikiki.

That seems to be how he reacted, even though the person that upset him tried to explain that wasn't what was being said. His post count was mentioned, only because it gives him credibility (forums are always that way), not because anybody suggested he posted too frequently. The same post said something very clear like "you've posted tons of valuable info here, and nobody would ever argue that", and left no room for doubt.

It's unfortunate he got upset, but there was an effort made to clear things up. I think that's one of the limitations of the written word versus the spoken word, and it seems to be something all online forums struggle with.

The nickname is primarily a carry-over from pre-internet/BBS days. These days I mostly manage systems for a few organizations in the area.

Sounds like high maintenance. It can be pretty tuf to deal with.

Great to hear TripleR is well. He's one of the guys that I personally look up to along with KOUA (James) and a few more including one (Matt) that don't post on here anymore. The sad part about these sites is IF you stop posting a thread usually starts wondering where you went and from that flaming evolves speculating why you left which is very sad. It's hard to believe but some of us have very busy lives outside TBN.

I'm about done with this place myself. I left for a while and should have stayed gone. When you get posts deleted that pertain to maintenance that might go above and beyond what some seem to think is not necessary I think there's other places I could best spend my time. I wouldn't blame him if he did leave but I sure would miss his posts. This place has grown to the point where there's always going to be someone to try and pick on others. This could be a great place but it could just as easily be ruined by a few.
