And if you think a moose can clear fences, start to wonder about the American Buffalo. I have witnessed "feats" that you would not believe.

Go to a stock pen that caters to buffalo, check the fence height!

Did you KNOW?????

At one time, many years ago, MOOSE were considered as possible "WAR MOUNTS" ! There was considerable efforts made to "reign them in", but the moose was just too intractable to be relied on.
Imagine a Moose charging down on you in the moments after you had fired your musket.

A horse will plunge to it's death under the prodding of it's rider.
A mule will NOT!
There are lots of Maine photos around of people that taught moose to pull a sled of logs out of the woods. I've seen one picture of a guy riding a moose that was pulling a sleigh.

I looked on the net and here's a few. The last photo looks new and I'd guess that last guy is tough as they come.

When I lived in Oklahoma it seemed like someone was seriously hurt every year getting to close to a buffalo.

A lot of people think buffalo's are just big lazy hairy cows waiting to be photographed or petted.

I helped one of my customers that I did hay for with vaccinating buffalo. You NEVER went in the pen with them and a rifle was handy. It was interesting. There was this 4"x4" window in the gate of the runway and they would run down the chute and constantly try to go through that hole. Young ones especially. The whole chute would shake.

In Yellowstone in 2008, I saw a man from India try to pet a Bison while his wife took a picture. We yelled at him to stop, but he spoke no English and kept approaching the animal. He would probably be dead now if my FIL hadn't tackled him!

It's amazing how many people have no respect for wildlife!

That first video gets funnier every time I see it. The stare at 1:14 is something you don't ever want to see. If that bull felt like it that guy would have been pulling antler shards out of his you-know-what for the next few months.
