I would punch my holes 5-6' deep. You want to be below the frost line. You get a lot colder up there than I do in North Bay, Ontario and our frost line is at the 4' mark. That is the only change I would make to the other comments.

I agree, I put my 16' fence posts in at least 4.5'-5'.
