I'm using my massey to clear out a lot of palmettos from a property I own. Last week I went to check the trany fluid and saw the dip stick was missing. Pretty sure of the area it might of gotten yanked out at but with out a metal detector I'm pretty sure I'll never find it. It may have even worked its way into the palmetto/brush piles I have made.
Anyway has anyone figured a way to secure the dipstick so it can't be yanked out? Maybe a little chain to it or some sort of locking setup? I just got a new one in today and really don't want it to disappear again while yanking out the palmettos again.

It looks like three different dipsticks are available from Agco. One looks like it has a loop that a wire or chain could be fastened to prevent loss. Do you have differential lock, the dipstick is in close proximity to the engagement pedal and maybe your foot pulled it out. This may be a stretch but the lift cover is supposed to have a breather assembly on the left side under the seat. If it is plugged or has been removed and plugged, quick changes in the fluid level with the three point or the auxiliary hydraulics may be causing excessive pressure in the housing and may have blown the dipstick out. I have never heard of this or am sure it is even possible but may be an explanation. Hope you solve this.

looked again at agcopartsbook.com and see two of the dipsticks are superseded and only one is available. Still a wire or chain connected to it would prevent loss or it ending up in a tire as it would with my luck.

Just a handy fact .
If one was to Misplace or loose the Transmission dipstick ,by removing the Bottom SETSCREW/BOLT THAT SECURES THE RESPONSE LEVER/ DIPSTICK COVER oil will run out of the hole if not fill with oil till it does no dipstick required !!
Happy Days.

G'Day Kid.
The fire is now officially under control, unfortunatly there were 55 homes destroyed and at the height of the battle more than 128 fire units mainly Volunteers like myself ,fortunatly no loss of life.
At this point in time the fire was started by an overhead power pole on private property shorting out .
Thank you for your concern .
regards.
