transmission/Hydraulic fluid. Who\'s using what?

I'm an Amsoil man so I'll be putting their fluid in my new Branson 4020 when the 50 hr. service comes due. What are some of the other brands of hydro fluid out there? Who's using what?

Yap TSC uses Mobil as there primary oil/grease supplier so its good quality stuff... i've used for about 5 yrs great stuff.. i got all the spec sheets when i lived in nashville from there corp. office which was only around 5 blocks away from my house.

The POWER TRAC PT-425 tractor ( www.power-trac.com/t8class.htm ) is all hydraulic - 3 hydraulic pumps, 4 wheel motors, 2 steering cylinders, FEL, and all PTO!

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif The factory specs call for 10W-30 or 10W40 MOTOR OIL in the 10 gallon hydraulic tank!!??!!
/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif MOTOR OIL!!!??!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif After 3 hours of PTO use, with the hydraulic oil cooler running, the Hydraulic Oil temperature in the hydraulic tank is 180° F. at an ambient temperature of 60° F.!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Per ( www.precisionfluidpower.com/oil_recommendations.htm ) : ""Oil operating temperature should not exceed 200° F. with a maximum of 180° F. generally recommended. 120° F to 140° F. is generally considered the optimum system operating temperatures. High temperatures result in rapid oil deterioration and may point out a need for an oil cooler or a larger reservoir. The nearer to optimum temperature, the longer the service life of the oil and the hydraulic components.""

Would Amsoil Synthetic Series 2000 0W-30 MOTOR OIL ( www.amsoil.com/products/tso.html ) work for these hydraulics?? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Because it is specifically designed for hydraulics, would not Amsoil Synthetic Tractor HYDRAULIC/TRANSMISSION OIL SAE 30 ( www.amsoil.com/products/ath.html ) be the very BEST PRODUCT to use in the hydraulic tank of this all hydraulic tractor!!????!! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: transmission/Hydraulic fluid. Who\'s using what?

Hi
this is what the spec sheet says

Hydraulic Oil Tank- 10 Gallon 10W40

but it doesn't say motor oil

that has to be the weight of the hydraulic oil

what does the book say?

I would do a bit more research before putting motor oil in the tank

I use this <font color="blue">stuff</font>!

It's all the Kubota dealers carry in my area. It's funny they label it as "Kubota UDT Fluid"?

Re: transmission/Hydraulic fluid. Who\'s using what?

I'm using Cat's Universal Tractor Fluid. The container does not give any clue about who actually makes this stuff, but it has practically indentical specs to other brands of UTF.

Interestingly enough, my MT-295 came from the factory with 80W GL4 oil in both the front axle and in the main hydraulic system. The manual for this tractor calls for either 80W GL4 oil or ARCO 821 XL (another UTF). There is quite a viscosity difference between the factory fill stuff and UTF.
