I have a Kubota L3240 and I'm trying to remove Trans filter. I've used two different filter wrwnches and can't break the filter loose to put on a new one for my 50 hour first filter change. I have changed the oil filter, oil and Hydraulics filter but can't get the Trans filter to break loose. Any ideas would help. I'm afraid I will puncture the filter can then I'll be in worse shape.

Which filter is it the heavy rounded one? I had to use a strap wrench on mine and I have read where a few guys used a pipe wrench to get it to come loose.

It's the heavy rounded one on the transmission under the step. I did not want to tear it up getting it off. It's 23 miles to the Kubota dealer if I screw it UP! I'll look for a strap wrench. The wrench I was using is like a pair of water pump pliers. Adjustable for different size filrers. It also slips when I get down on it.

Yea that the high pressure filter and it is pretty thick, not like a car oil filter. I would use a strap wrench. I would have a new filter on hand before I started.

Glad to know it's the heavy one. I have torn up car filters before and removed them in pieces. I guess it is a strap wrench and a cheater pipe. I have replacement filter on the bench. When I replaced the Hydr. filter I lost about 1/2 gal of Super trans oil. I guess I'll lose about the same amount when I replace the Tranny filter. I better get another gal. of fluid before I start. That will be Monday and another $15.

I think this is the one with the magnet in it (sets on the top) so make sure and clean the magnet and put it on the new filter.
