I have a 1547 Massey. My question has to do with checking the transmission oil level window. I have a 1580 backhoe attached at the present time and wondered if that would effect the oil level. The tractor also has the 1530 loader attached. The oil level seems to cover the window it should cover half the window. So do I drain some oil or do I just assume that it changed because of the backhoe being attached? I am coming up on my 50 hours oil and changes. Should take the hoe off before changing the transmission oil to make sure I get the right level? Is there a certain way I should set all the hydrolic positions before checking? Just wondered if anyone else had this question? Thanks

You can check oil level with hoe on or off and loader in any position. Although cylinder position will affect oil level, the affect is minimal (basically the displacement of oil caused by the postion of the cylinder rod inside the cylinder). Would suggest though that you remain consistent in your configuration when checking oil.

Most tractors are made to where they can handle more fluid than the level of the dip stick or the sight glass shows. The reason for that is the number of different implements that tractors have been designed to operate over the years.
The only reason that you may need to remove the backhoe when changing the fluid would be if you can't get the filter screen out to clean or can't remove the filter with the hoe on. I don't think that will be a problem on the model of tractor that you have.
