Transaxle broke - Yard Man 4W Stearing

Hi,
I have an old Yard Man riding mower that has 4 wheel steering.
Model # 13BX614G401

The transaxle has gone out on it (forward and reverse gears) leaving the mower useless.

Peerless Transaxle: 618-0034

The transaxle is out of production and I am wondering if anyone knows of another model that will interchange with it. I am not concerned about the all wheel steering, I would be fine with front steering only and a mower that moves.

Would it be possible to find parts for the the axle even though it is out of production. I'm just wondering what the best and cheapest way is to fix the mower.

has peerless transmissions for sale, but not yours. If the mounts are the same you could have a new trans for around $299 or less.

Surplus Center has always carried a few Peerless transaxles. https://www.surpluscenter.com/sort.asp?catname=powerTrans&keyword=PTT1 A swap to a different transaxle may be fairly painless as long as it had similar gear linkage and drive pulley locations.

Shame, I actually had one of these transaxles sitting around for several years and finally just scrapped it. I kept the steering knuckles for ...who knows what and mostly just got Aluminum out of it if I remember correctly. Probably kept the shafts and gears though. I may actually still have the gears but have no way of knowing if they are in my box of assorted gears or already been welded into a yard ornament. I know it sounds pretty redneck but I make flower bed markers out of the gears. My wife likes to mark the location of some of her perennials, and I make metal "flowers" for her to stake their location or simply make Flower ornaments for the beds using gears with sheet metal petals and other such "art".
