trans input seal on auto behind a 99 4x4 7.3psd

does the engine have to come out or will the trans drop. I'm starting to get a drip of ATF..

Mind you.. I can buy ALOT of atf for what a dealer will liekly want to repair it.. etc.. just wondering..

Don't see why the tranny can't come out by itself..Transfer case too...Haven't run into any pickups where that wasn't the case. Not a Ford guy though.

Pulling a Diesel with the tranny would probably require a D9

I've pulled motor and tranny on cars many times, but the biggest was a 396 w/400 turbo..Different weight class all together.

If you do, be careful with the seal and the converter R&R...Those can be mechanically fatal if not perfect.

We pulled the trans on a 99 F350 srw without pulling the motor. We pulled the old one and swapped in the new in a day.

Its a good idea to get that seal fixed asap, as any hard towing or loading will make it worse and worse. It was very common on that 4 sped transmission and happend with my father's 95 F350 PSD. He is putting together a 94 and had the tranny rebuilt with an upgraded TC seal at the front pump.
