So today I was tasked the job of the Nurse Driver for the Spray Rigs at work. I was driving a '98 Dodge 3500 Diesel with a trailer. The trailer has a tank on it that holds 1000 gallons of liquid.
I was on my way out to the field and got about 30 minutes from home base. I hear a large BANG and thought for sure I had lost an empty chemical container off the bed of the truck and ran it over. i quickly pull over and get out of the truck. As I walk back towards the trailer I noticed that one of the tires was completely off of the rim. So I called the shop and talked to the mechanic (of course the truck I am driving didn't have any tools or a jack or nothing) and he came out with the necessary tools. Problem Solved?? Not really.
We put the spare tire on and let the jack down....the tire starts to compress....it was a little short on air. I had enough to get me to the field and back to the tire shop where the new tires were supposed to be. Nothing like a 20 mile trip only going 25 MPH!!!
AND THE KICKER!
I stopped at the tire shop on the way back to the farm (the mechanic took the blown tire there and they were SUPPOSED to have the new tire on the rim when I got there). I get there and the two guys are working on getting the tire on. OK so I had to wait a few minutes. No big deal. WRONG!!! I was there for 45 minutes and they ended up giving me a used tire to use until they can figure out how to get the new tires on the rims. It took them 45 minutes to figure out that what they were doing wasn't working?!?!?!?!? I MEAN COME ON!!!!!
Well that was my day. sounds like a blast doesn't it?
