Can I use the trailer plug on the back of my XR4140 to power a 3pt sprayer?

I am looking for a sprayer to wet down my arena and driveway when I need to do some maintenance and I'm torn between an electric version or a pto version. If I go with the electric version I don't want to have to run the cable up to my battery every time I want to use it.

That question can not be answered with out more information.
How man amps does your pump use?
How many amps is your trailer wire rated for?
How many amps are used on the trailer wire already?

Even if your plug won't handle it, you can run a new wire as a one time job. Just run a new permanent circuit with adequate wire size and it's own breaker/fuse and install the disconnect plug of your choice.

The sprayer I am looking at uses about 4.5 amps

This is what I was hoping someone who has an LS tractor would be able to answer for me.

I did this for a sprayer I use behind my CaseIH DX55. I found the electrical diagram in the operators manual, and it provided enough details to identify the trailer plug circuit and the amps/fuse for it. Mine had plenty, but I forget now what it was. Hopefully yours will show that info too.

Instead of a trailer plug, maybe install one of these heavier ones like they use on electric forklifts or receiver hitch winches.

That will give more than enough capacity for what you need, and allow for future heavy current requirements, if any.

I have so many other things to do that I would prefer not to have to run new electricals if I can keep from it.

I believe that plug is rated for 10A so you should be able to run a 4.5A sprayer pump off it. Here's the pinout for the plug. You'll need to get the female end that plugs in to the plug on back of the tractor. Most any trailer place should stock it. Even NAPA may have one. Double check your tractor pin out to be sure.

Also check your manual to see if they show how the pins are wired. There are several ways they can be wired, and my tractor was wired for ag use. The center pin was a switched accessory lead, and the bottom pin was unswitched.

Yup. These are awesome. Runs the sprayer, fuel transfer pump, baler monitor, winch, whatever. Heavy duty and cheap on Ebay.
