Shouldn't need one, I would bet lunch on it being a wiring problem.

I'm betting its all the wiring harness in truck... Picture on Hopkins site shows a ground wire with ring connector and a screw, BUT instructions mention nothing about connecting it.... Is it connected to truck body or chassis?

Check connector on truck first.... If its good, then trouble shoot trailer... IF brake pedal pressed you should have 12volts at yellow and green wires at plug on truck...

IF turn signals work at trailer the trailer wiring is good.... IF you take small 12 volt battery (battery charger or jump box) and a clip cord to connect trailer plug ground wire to minus (-) side of battery supply and use another clip cord to put 12 volts from battery plus(+) to each of the corresponding wires (yellow/green/brown) and proper LEDS illuminate on trailer, all your problems are in truck....

At trailed plug using just a 12volt battery (or battery charger)
put ground on trailer white wire
put 12 volts on brown wire, tail lights ( and side markers if equipped) come on.
put 12 volts on green wire bright LED for RIGHT side stop/turn comes on.
put 12 volts on yellow wire bright LED for LEFT side stop/turn comes on.

If you get these results your trailer wiring is good..... PERIOD...

Also find this tool for trouble shooting best ever.... Lamp "on" you have both voltage and ground.. Lamp off, either voltage or ground or both missing...

Just to be clear I have 4 multimeters, 2 analog and 2 digital, and this $5-10 tool is preferred for automotive wiring trouble shooting (non computer circuits) ...

And yes I do get deep wiring, this is a in process picture of developing a full wiring harness for VW DUNE BUGGY with all full road legal wiring for lights and engine instrumentation...

And done,,,

Yeah, I did finally buy a probe tester the other day. Should have done that 60 years ago but have always used a VOM or DMM.

So doing a little checking this evening I see that I don't have the brake light function working on my pickup either. :) One would think that I should have noticed that when looking for brake lights on the trailer. Duh.

No wonder the trailer brake lights don't work. So, anyway, I'll go looking for the fuse when I get a little more time and it probably needs replaced.

Makes we wonder how long I've been running without brake lights on the pickup? This whole experience again teaches me, at 75 years of age, to not take anything for granted.

Been reading this whole thread. Learned a lot from those who actually helped OP troubleshoot. Just wanted to give y'all a shout out.

Cripes, 169 posts for trailer lights? Really?

Just take the thing to a shop and have them fix it. 😎

HaHa That wouldn't be any fun when you can pester all these good folks on TBN. :)
Its good to just have someone to talk to for some of us old farts. (and the help is very much appreciated)

Edit: The expression "cripes" is one that I don't hear very often anymore. I think it was my Dad's favorite back on the farm in the 50's. He had a few other choice ones also including "well judas priest".
