I doubt either one of my hitches would get rusted in place due to their design, both can move enough to keep them free.

My 2 piece ball assembly rattles around also. I keep enough grease/oil on it that I need to have a few paper towels handy when I handle it. Hence, the bolt thread here.

It seems the newer receivers have that extra slop in them that will keep them free...hence the rattle that is so common now.
