I built a quick and easy hitch to move my boat and implement trailer with my tractor. I used a 1 7/8" ball since the boat is that and the trailer is 2". Tried it tonight and it works great. If I curl the bucket, I can see the ball, which makes the hookup easier!

I would add a strap over the top of the 2 angles so that the shear forces on the bolt/pin are not as great... only need a 2" by 1/4" or so piece that is the width of the angles. lay it across the reece hitch and tack it in place and remove the reece and weldit up. make sure there is enough clearance so the reece will slide in & out easliy still. just a little extra safety...

Mark,

Thanks for the tip. It's probably a good idea. I figure the weak spot if the 3/8" bolts......... If it gives way, the trailer won't fall far and I won't ever be going over 1 MPH.

Thks.

I have seen simalar. You could have just welded a piece of reciever tube to the fel and left it there when not use the hitch.
