On the length, they tend to shrink when you load them. So, if you get an 18 ft, you will wish you had atleast 2 ft, or 4 ft more. Same with width, 84" wide seems wide, until you wish you had another 8".

With car trailer vs deck over, car hauler is great, But its less useful to load pallets on, at most supply places. You gonna want to place those pallets over the axles, or less, and you have a fender in the way.

Yup, I recently bought a 3' longer one, and saved about 10K by driving 850 miles to a dealer near the Diamond C factory.

This summer my 16' PJ will likely get an extra two feet added.

When I bought my 6'4"×16 ft; i thought, man this is plenty. When I put the little Ck2610, if i take the box blade, i have to hang the bucket over the front, and roll the edge down to not catch the rear lights on sharp turns. I've had a Volkswagen Passat, and a Dodge Durango on it, will maybe 2 or 3 inches to spare. Even on Payload, dual 3500# axles, and you kinda wish the whole thing was heavier duty (the ramp especially).

I kinda wish I'd spent the extra $1,000 and gotten the 7x18. Now, to buy the same trailer today, it's $1300 more than I spent in '19.

I have used pintle and 2-5/16" ball tongues, and don't really have much preference. Pintle is easier to hook up, ball "clunks" less at a stop/start.

One upgrade, most of the factory trailer jacks don't have a "foot", so you need a chunk of lumber to keep it from sinking in the sand. You can normally pick up a cheap "foot" for a few dollars, and it's worth it.

I've given up on 3,500-lb. axles, and whatever steel ramps a trailer comes with gets replaced with aluminum ramps.

My bad back doesn't get along with heavy and structurally inferior ramps.
