Loader traditional VS. self leveling Loader

Yeah, it is more expensive after-the-fact because you are replacing you standard valve with a self leveling valve. If you buy it from the factory that way, you are only paying the "upgrade" price which is the difference between the standard valve and self leveling valve. Of couse, if you do the upgrade after-the-fact, you will have a standard valve you can sell. Don't know if there is much of a market for loader valves...

If I remember correctly, the 'upgrade' price was like $800 when I ordered my tractor.

yes, you want to do it at the factory, not the dealer. My 7040 has everything but SL loader and KSR. Would like to have the accumulator, but don't know how bad of a hit that would be to install cost wise. I had it on my Case 580 superM and it was a great luxury to be able to speed load buckets of dirt or gravel in 3rd gear across the jobsite without spilling anything.

The good news with your KSR is you are not replacing something you already have with a new one (as is the case of the FEL valve). Therefore you aren't paying for it twice (as is the case of the FEL valve -- which is why it seems so expensive).

If you buy from the factor, you don't really pay for installation -- which you will buying after-the-fact... unless you can install yourself.

As far as the price from factory or add-on-later? I don't know if that would differ too much. It would be just labor I would guess.

I installed my 3rd function valve (FEL remote). That was an add-on that didn't replace anything except the FEL joystick. Installation was a piece of cake. If you can turn a wrench, I would look into the KSR and install it yourself. Looks like it is $599 on Kubota's site.

How does the KSR work, I am not familiar with it? Is it a worth while addition?

Where the heck did you find the KSR kit on Kubota's website? Please show me a link if you have time.

Must be an accumulator, some lines and a switch on the dash I would think....

It's a cushioning accumulator that takes the shock out of the loader while you're driving over bumpy terrain.

It's worthwhile if you work on bumpy ground with the FEL a lot.

Since it is hydraulic and not mechanical and only $800 more at purchase I would probably opt for it even though I would not use it 99% of the time. Very nice to have the option though and the resale value would be increased.

Thanks, I already have something that completely eliminates any discomfort in using a loader or anything else over bumpy ground, it is called KIDS. If I didn't have them, I would seriously consider a KSR though.

Seriously that sounds like a worth while addition for a reasonable price.

At least for me, it's sells it self alot of times cause we in the hay business mostly. And the other big reason for the self leveling loader is safety. We deal with a lot of people who don't pay attention. And they pick a bale up to high and it flips back and falls on driver. So to me I would say it's on what the cust. Wanta to spend.
