Buying Advice Trading TC35DA for 3040 w/ Cab. Thoughts on trade $.

Hey guys, newbie to the site. I plan on trading my '05 TC35DA with 457 hours and FEL on a new 3040 with a cab and new CVT tranny. I read the discussions on the CVT, not sure how it will work compared to the Hydro, but pretty confident in NH's abilities.

The dealer is willing to give me $16,600 for the trade and the new tractor for $27K (FEL on new one too). What do you guys think about that deal?

BTY, I have backhoe attachment I am keeping to use on the new tractor. Will there be any issues in your minds about mounting it up, meaning a new frame mount or are they (35 and 3040) the same frame? I would think same frame from looking at them, but forgot to ask the dealer.

If you are getting the new tractor for $27k minus $16.6k trade-in for a difference of $10.4k, I think that's a sweet deal.:thumbsup:

With cab, fel and cvt trans, I am fairly sure the price is going to be near $43.6K and a then the trade in. No way can the OP buy that tractor and those options for $27K. The OP would do better selling his current tractor by himself rather than trading it in.

It sounds like a good deal. How much does the CVT add to price over a HST? I didn't think a CUT with cab, fel and CVT/HST could be found for under 30K. My 2006 JD 3720 (44hp) with cab, FEL, radio, 3 rear valves and other options cost around 34K. My new JD 4520 (66 hp) with cab, FEL, ect. was near 43K but was loaded with options. I thought the CVT might add a few thousand dollars over HST.

2 dealers were willing to give me $17.5K trade in on my JD 3720 which was in excellent condition with 400 hours. I sold it out right for $25.5K. I think you are getting a good trade in.

The CVT will work circles around the hydro. They have been around since 1996 (Fendt) so they are not new.

I don't doubt the reliability, it is the ease of use I wonder about? I have grown really accustomed to my foot pedals, but used to love the shuttle tranny on my 580 case backhoe, so I guess the lever on the new CVT should be fine. I seem to do a lot of loader work, and it is nice being able to steer with one hand and have the other on the loader control (using foot control), especially with the HI/LO button on the TC. I will now have to take my hand off the wheel to shift from forward to reverse.

LowerSlower, by my calculations, I would expect that tractor to be $37k instead of $27k. Your price of $27k is below dealer cost for a cabbed 3040, HST, and 250TL loader. A CVT would be a bunch more. It just doesn't make sense that a dealer would sell that tractor so far below his cost. I think $43.6k is way too much, but a price around $37k would be normal. I thnk CVTs are overpriced and would not want to pay the premium. But despite what I think, they are priced very high.

I am going to the dealer on Wednesday, I am currently in Washington,DC. I may have heard wrong, but I am 99% positive he said $27K!? It was a real quick conversation, but I happen to be really good with numbers, and I know I wouldn't even start to think about paying $20K more after my trade, so we'l see what happens on Wed. I'll let everyone know what goes down.
