Am negiotiating on a 4520, and have an quote that includes trade-in of my 4700 at $14,000. It's a yr 2000, with 1200 hrs. 430 FEL. Used mostly for mowing. Clean, no damage; little wear&tear. Only repair needed was the seals on the FWD axle (a common malady for the xx00's). Is the 14k in the ballpark?
BTW, two quotes on the 4520 are at -12% and -17% for the unit as supplied from factory. About half that (8%) on the FEL. Little or no discounts on other add-on's (e.g. deluxe grill guard, seat armrests, etc.)
Pricey add-ons like shipping and set-up, and something called "EnviroCrate". I heard JD was requiring a "roll-on/roll-off" charge that would minimize the set-up work by the dealer, but haven't seen that show up on the quotes. Is there any chance of these charges being negiotiable?
Jim

PS God, I hate the process of having to sit in front of the salesman's desk and wait while he keys never-ending information into a configurator program. It's just like standing at the counter of a airline and have to suffer the endless wait while the agent keys in god-knows-what-info. Another nightmare is the car salesman saying "I just need to run this deal past the sales manager" and then disappears for what seems like a month. The answer you get from all of these 3 scenes is never what you're hoping for...

$14K seems a tad low but they want to make money on it.

Farm Equipment Value Results

They have an equipment value tab - pretty handy.

I hate sitting in the dealer working a deal. I go in get them going and then I have to leave for an appointment. They are usually pretty good if you actually sit foot in the store to show you are really interested.

Tractorhouse and machinefinder are good resources to research as well for high retail numbers.

Setup depends on each dealer. Some dealers will waive it, some wont. As far as roll on/roll off, the dealer is charged this regardless. Its just a fancy term for "freight" that JD charges us. Just an fyi I do take trades if you want to shoot a pic over. Thanks
