Gotta get this off my chest..

I’ve been worried that I’ll break my xd 3025h because of the oil leak recall issue. I have under 20 hours on my machine and have been terrified that I’ll have a mess if it breaks. I have no trailer and the nearest dealer is over an hour away.
I decided that I’m not going to live with a potential engine killer after realizing that I might have no problems until the warranty is over. Then what if it fails after this? I’m screwed with a young tractor and a dead motor! For peace of mind I decided to trade in in for a new MT225HE for $3k plus tax. I said the **** with it and tacked on a backhoe too. I mean.. Who doesn’t want a backhoe? Well, now I’m shelling out $9k! I mean, I cannot take the money with me!

I figured that $3k for the upgrade price and piece of mind as I age is worth it as the money won’t be missed by the time I retire (10 years?) and really start to use this machine if not sooner.

Thanks for letting me ramble on... I’m trying to justify this madness with a group of tractor junkies that will most likely agree with my decision!! :). Penny wise, and dollar foolish....

I agree with you fully! If they would not do the fix unless you had problems, better to be problem free with the new machine! I could have gotten a new 225e instead of my 3025, but it was a late production run and has the same frame as the new 225e. I had the dealer send me pics of both to confirm.

You will not regret the BH either! I will never buy another tractor without one now! You will find many many jobs for it. My neighbor just bought a new MT125 without the BH. He saw me using mine to plant some trees and then I went over to his place to dig a short (30ft) trench for him. Did it in about 15 minutes. Guess what? He is going back to the dealer next week to get his BH installed! You made a good choice!

Oh, and just $3K more? I think that is very fair! $6K for the BH is not too bad either. Is that installed price?

Yep! But it’s really even better than this. The dealer bent backwards for me, because this is my cost after tax, and I didnt buy from him, I ordered from across the country. Ill be a customer of his from this day forward. I gaurantee! Glad to hear some backhoe patriotism right now.. you know how it is, buyers remorse and the shock of more debt and all.. I never bought new cars, or fancy things, so I convinced myself to do it. Let’s hear more positive affirmations! :)

“I am broken, stuck in limbo, just waiting for the end result, anticipating what is around the corner”

Bingo!

Sorry for you situation! Glad to see you made some kind of decision, and get over it.
I got a MT225HE about 2 mo. ago. So far I love it. For reference I got it from Hobby Tractors in northern Utah. They delivered it free (250 Miles!). They were very nice to deal with.
I got it with a loader bucket, backhoe, and DR scraper(only Orange piece). It was just about $25K with TAX. I would be lost without the BackHoe. Also had them install some extra fitting to the backhoe to prevent hydraulic lock changing the backhoe. About $250 of the price.

It has set out in the snow and rain and always started up. I am up to about 40 Hours of moving tree limbs and digging stumps. About 3 tanks of fuel.
I beat it up a little trying to pick up loads of limbs and brush. Tree limbs seem impossible to pick up, AND they will come over the bucket and damage the front.
I have learned to hand carry or hand load the bucket now. NO charging a pile! I am changing to oil now, decided on Shell T6 Syn? Still looking at filters?

I am also in the crowd that won’t buy if it doesn’t have a backhoe. Had a couple early on and once I had one with, I haven’t had one without since!
Must also say I agree with your decision especially if your not the type to fix things yourself and your not wasting money and buried in debt.

Thanks for all the replies. I did it. No pics yet but I did it. The dealer, Superior Farm supply in Montpelier, Ohio, went above and beyond. He let me take the tooth bar off the bucket on my old leaving him with a bucket having a hole in each side. I did this because for whatever reason the quick connects would not accept my old bucket without putting a breaker bar on the handles and really cranking on them, so I asked for the new bucket and took my tooth bar with me.
Original tractor bought from Brunos out of Arkansas. They said they would give me $12,000 for my 3025H with 18 hours on it. Hahahahahaha! Really??! I know they need to make money but they ARE an ambassador of LS and sold me a lemon!
I paid $16,493 for my original 3025 with FEL and 60 Taylor Pitt box blade. Trade in for the MT225HE with FEL and backhoe ran me $9450 after tax. I keep the box blade.
This puts me at a cost of about $26k for my tractor with FEL, box blade and backhoe so I’m not really out anything except the increased worry of failure.
I probably could have saved a couple thousand going mail order again, but Im done with that game.
I dont mind taking a stab at fixing things on my own, but I feel that putting a new motor in a broken design would end with another failed motor. I feel that it’s a high risk potential failure that was avoidable with a little money. Done. No more worrying.

I just ordered a MT240HE. I test drove it at my dealer and was sold. Coming off a MT125 with BH. The MT2 series is a different animal. How are you enjoying the tractor?

I didn’t “need” the backhoe either but I sure did want it and I’m glad I have one. Yes, I could dig quicker with a rented excavator but I’m not billing myself by the hour! I love my new MT225S!
