Thanks. He is 64 (ten years older than I) but he is in very rough shape. Unable to run a saw and use a log splitter. Suffered a bad car accident years ago plus way too much drug and alcohol use in the past. Sued some of his neighbors when he lived in the southern US and had to move to Michigan to get away. He was going to be murdered.

I was a bit reluctant to help him, but no issues in the 12 years I have been here. He is a bit of a goof ball but OK. We tend to help out neighbors around here. My dad used to say, "One hand washes the other".

I am a remote area. He lives 2 miles from me and there are only two full time residents between us.
Well, the guy I helped this week came over this morning and gave me $500. Asked me to deliver $500 worth of firewood when I get the chance.

No one was willing to move those 10 cords of logs and winter is coming so he was in a panic. The contractor came yesterday to grade the pad for his pole barn. He is so pleased.

Living proof that winter is closer. I don't mind winter at all but am in no hurry. Been seeing blue on the weather maps out your way this week.

Had a few minutes this morning before rain. Covered this year's wood yesterday. Wood shed has gotta be a 2025 project. Been a drought in OK. Supposed to get 8 inches rain in parts of state over the next 3 days

If we had 8" spread over 3 days it would be way too much. But you are in a whole different environment. Hopefully it is what you need ????

That's quite a log to pick. Nothing like eastern cedars that I see. What do you do with something like that ?

That was the lower 1/4 of the tree. A little over half (top of the tree) was solid through, so it will be milled. I am not sure what to do with the lower hollow portion yet. Maybe fence rails, it is very tight old growth, been there longer than anyone remembers.

Mr. Gordon, are you getting on OK after your surgery?

Yes I am - Thanks. Eyes are better than I can remember them being. Amazing. Supposed to stay quiet, not bend below the waist, or lift more than 15 lbs until Monday but I couldn't do it. Cheated a little today and cleared a couple fir blow downs off a trail with my saw grapple and winch.
Felt good to do something in the woods after almost two weeks.

I might add that that was one of the smaller old cedars in that field. Most are two are three times that diameter. I won't be able to pick those up if the fall in my lifetime.
