Beautiful property, that looks like it was a ton of very hard work. But if I may, why are you so intent on forest habitat removal? Don't get me wrong, I'm engaged in a similar pattern of clearing on my property here in Michigan, but I'm trying to keep my total around an acre or so. Animals like the woods! Hope you burned all the wood in a nice woodstove inside?

For central NH where I am there is at least a 4 square miles of forest area where there is barely a class 6 road so unlike Vermont, there is not a lot of open land. Other areas of central NH are getting more suburban, but the raw woods around here are a real tough place to develop, considering there are easier spots to build in rural setting. You pick your battles in the Granite state. I want to open up another 1/2 acre so as to better maintain 5 acres of pasture. Lately we have been able to fully graze 3-4 cows early May thru end of October, saving a ton of $$$$ to feed them. We raise our own beef and chicken and share pork, lamb etc. The 3/4 acre I just selectively cleared yielded about 8 cord of hardwood. From here on in just clearing deadwood and dying trees, so no need to clear more land. Plenty of firewood. Animals also like our little field. Deer like my perimeter trail as they hang out at a very steep drop off, where the coyotes are exhausted just climbing the hill to get to their bedding area, giving deer plenty of time to high tail it to the field. Smart deer. Lots and lots of turkey, porcupine, some bobcats and fishers, beaver, occasional Pepe LaPue, Yogi, and Bullwinkle.

A while ago I posted some pics of a new area I was opening up for a new and improved firewood shed. I finally finished the shed. Here are few pics of it and some lumber I cut up for another project. All of the lumber, other than a couple of 2" x 4"s, were cut from the trees I cleared for the shed and around some other buildings, for wild fire protection.

While building the firewood shed I had an accident and fell off the roof. Ended up driving myself to the ER to get checked out. Aside from some nasty bruising all up my left side, from my knee to my shoulder, I tore my rotator cuff. The torn cuff is taking a really long time to heal and still gives me trouble but at least the shed got finished.

I tore my rotator cuff, Bicep muscle, and broke a rib Jan 15 2022. Ribs heal quick. My shoulder would not heal without surgery.
I was scheduled for surgery in May, however I in May I suffered two strokes two weeks apart.
That put a delay in my shoulder surgery until I recovered from the strokes, had heart surgery to fix the hole in the ticker that was causing the blood clots. I finally had the shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago. That's why I'm spending time on TBN getting fatter rather than being outside working.
Shoulder healing after surgery is a 6 month recovery. During the first 4 month, you risk tearing the shoulder again, and an attempt to re repair would be like putting duck tape over a dirty surface. I used to think how much I hated tossing up hay bails.
"God please let me be able to do that again."
Doing some walking the ground turns white.

Very nice looking property mike69440. I see a ton of work has been done there !! Take care of yourself and get well.

I had a 2' dead maple that has been dropping branches on one of my tractor trails all summer. I decided to cut it and turn it into firewood. When the top hit the ground it shattered and there were broken branches scattered everywhere. Here it is after I cleaned up so that I could see what I was doing.

22_10_20-1.jpg

I cut my firewood 18" long so I cut two 21' logs from the bottom part of the tree for the first hitch.

22_10_20-2.jpg

22_10_20-3.jpg

The butt log was hiding behind the stump. Rather than just yank on it and hope for the best, or skid it from the top end which pulls much harder with a heavy log, I put the choker hook as low as I could on the back side of the log and brought the cable over the top in an attempt to make it roll up over the stump.

22_10_20-4.jpg

Worked like a charm - a 180* roll and the log climbed right up and was sitting on top of the stump.

22_10_20-5.jpg

Just need to pick up the saw and ready to head out.

22_10_20-6.jpg

At the landing. They're not pretty but they should burn OK.
