You haven't been paying attention, that's what we've been discussing. Although if you look hard enough you probably will find one or two smaller versions of the tree which SR cant bring himself to cut up for firewood.

Who what whare has been discussing the beech tree that looks like ash? The only one saying that was me, SR's beech looks like beech, my beech looks like beech, gg's beech looks more ash then beech....

It sure looks like beech to me. Ash usually has striations in the bark, which turn into grooves as the tree gets bigger. Unless you're a Passamaquoddy looking for basket material, then the bark is corky and flakes off easily.

Nothing like this, therefore gg has strange looking beech to me.........

That's beech all right, and looks really good in a firewood pile.
I think that a couple of the beech logs in GG's pile had an odd tint which made them look different.

The white in the lower RH picture is the scale which spreads the disease, there's some speculation that a few trees are resistant. I wonder if that's what makes the tree stay so clean, even with the scale.
