Figured since the weather was so nice, I'd get more wood split. Found this nice maple missing the top. Apparently there was a squirrel living in the top. Man he went flying out of there when it hit the ground!! His nest is up by the log arch in this photo.
It was supposed to cloudy but decent here too but didn't turn out that way. We've had 4 days of fog and drizzle. Haven't done much but get the chains on and poke around in the shop. Now tomorrow is supposed to be good.
I love standing barkless maple like that too - ready to burn. Looks like a lot of oak leaves on the ground there also. Nice hard woods you have !!
Back in the day we were clearing a lot for the next house and fell a tree that turned out hollow. When it hit the ground it broke apart and a big old coon came rolling out. He really got stunned. Poor thing wandered in small circles for an hour before he could go straight and disappear into the woods.
