Near the front of the trailer there is a fixed tower/platform on which the grapple's arm is mounted. Underneath that is the works for the winch: hydraulic drive, gearing, spool for cable, etc. The cable runs from the spool up to near the top of the tower, where it comes out of the tower in through a block that can pivot left and right to direct the cable.

The first picture is copied from the Metavic brochure. It shows the winch block with the cable stretched out to a log.
The second picture is zoomed in on my trailer. The small blue circle shows the winch block near the top of the tower. The larger yellow circle indicates where the guts of the winch is housed.

Figured since the weather was so nice, I'd get more wood split. Found this nice maple missing the top. Apparently there was a squirrel living in the top. Man he went flying out of there when it hit the ground!! His nest is up by the log arch in this photo.

Then brought up these pieces of black birch that I cut down a couple years ago.

It didn't all fit, so I started a wood crate.

I built a new outfeed table, but didn't finish reinforcing the legs yet, so maybe next round of pics. I also have to clean out my usual splittin spot then get all set up again. I used the splitter at a friend's last weekend, and going back tomorrow so I left it on the quad for this batch.

I like weathered dead maple thats still standing, guess squirrels like them to. You have boot guards on the atv? If I dont I always get them punctured from a stick.

I have powder coated steel plates under the lower A arms both front & back to protect the CV boots. Before I got them, I ripped a rear boot while out on a trail fender deep in watery goo. Took it to the car wash to clean it up to work on it, they kicked me out. Fixed the boot, then put the guards on. Haven't ripped one since.

It was probably too dirty. The car wash up here has signs asking people not to wash their vehicles if they are too dirty, apparently Dysart's only wants clean autos.

I would detail engines on the used cars and a little Engine Bright and a quick run up the coin car wash to rinse the engine bay...

Things got stricter when the water district started sampling and rates went up and do did signs about washing dirty vehicles...

The coin op car washes had a special treatment tier higher than any other...

Have not been to one in years.

Really, I thought if one paid to wash ones own Jeep it wouldn't matter how dirty it was coming off the jeep trail, no wonder people buy pressure washers.....
