Man it is still raining, tree cutting is going to really slow down for a while. I does make for a good time to watch some interesting videos on youtube. I just got done watching this old B&W tree cutting movie, it's about a black family down south in the 50s trying to make a living cutting wood. But what I dont get is they had chainsaws in the 50s but they was using a two wheel rotary saw machine, ok for flat ground but man it was hard work back then.

If you haven't seen this, the show is little over an hour, narrated with some sound effects but I enjoyed it, a few glimpse of old machines, tractors with half tracks, trucks and a horse.

There are flood watches in effect down state. I was down in Auburn putting lights on a 30 tree that my father planted years ago... it was a little wet but warm enough so I didn稚 mind.

This home made one is the best I seen for one big reason, it has a crane instead log lift which means no more rolling block to the splitter, I never seen saw any sense in that, also this block return is a great idea, but look at the slash it's making.

I put a crane on my splitter ten years ago, it simply is the best way to get block to the splitter, I can reach out 10' in all directions.

Hi Oldpath,

If you wouldn't mind my asking, would you please post to some pictures showing more detail of how your crane is mounted/attached to your splitter?

I tried to get a good look from the picture you posted, but the area is too shadowed to see anything with any useful details.

We called them Rocky Mountain Oysters or Lamb Fries. We only had to eat them once though and they were cooked.

I saw Mike Rowe talking about his experiences doing just that [on his show "Dirty Jobs", and how when the sheep rancher [IDK if that's the proper term or not] let his team castrate a lamb the "humane way" using banding, it was obviously much more traumatic to the lamb than slicing open it's scrotum and biting out its testicles.

In fact, the "humanely" treated lamb was more or less in shock, and per the rancher, they used too lose too many to that using banding...

From a few weeks ago, before I took off the loader/put on the blower (though we have less snow now than in this pic)....

My pallets-o-wood. Positioned behind the woodshed incase I need them this spring (because the woodshed is empty).

You got a whole little village of them out there ae. Looks neat!

Now I have something to do next spring during mud season. Should be our 2021/2022 wood with some good luck. I learned the hard way that it is best to stay well ahead.
