I'm not much of a noodler (actually never heard the term before this thread, but I am wondering if noodling part way through and then wedging is an effective method to splitting large chunks?

Yeah, I thought "noodling" was catching catfish with your bare hands.

I've heard that called noodling too. I've also heard the practice of sawing a log in half cutting with the grain noodling.

When I was living in Austria it had another meaning similar to making out...

With reference to gg's situation. I have a trailer and put bunks on it. That way I can haul up to 28' logs.

Even upside down I can see that is a nice set-up. Especially with that F550. I think that is the way I will end up going. Have an eye out for a trailer now. Do you run that w/o a CDL ?? Seems like that would be a problem here.

I have a Class A CDL, it is required for this set up.

No worries, the thumbnails are upside down but when I click on them they are right side up. They are too small to look at until I click on them anyways. That said... impressive!

I cut the last sawmill reject log I had. This one actually had metal and I had to toss the end 3 feet. I still got 6 good pieces. It took between 35-45 seconds to noodle these. IMG_0821.JPGIMG_0823.JPGIMG_0822.JPG

You saying you cut through the entire round with a chainsaw or say the first 4" and then split em?
