What you have there looks like Soft Maple. No Veneer in soft Maple, but the dark center makes nice looking wood for table tops and other furniture. If it was Hard Maple it would have a small reddish center.

Sorry PhysAssist for the delay in my reply. I just bought the crane at Princess Auto.... a supply chain here in Canada. It is just a crane that is meant for the back bumper of a truck so you can load heavy objects. It came with a manual winch and was $150. I had it welded on my trailer on approximate 12 inch raised mount so the top of the crane would be high enough to dump the trailer and load logs on top of the load. I then went to a local hardware store a bought a 3000 pound electric winch. The crane is only rated for $500 but the welder reinforced it a bit. The boom has a manual hydraulic jack which I can lower and raise the boom. Thats important for different application I use it for. My trail is a dump trail and it dumps a full load of firewood (about 3/4 of a cord) no problem. Thanks for watching my video and thanks for your comments. lol

No worries, it's just a really nice looking rig, and I wondered where it came from- but I don't think it'd be very cost effective for me to cross the border to find a Princess Auto to buy one, so I guess I'll have to keep looking.

I did love playing with the mini-ex I rented, but when push came to shove [literally]- they needed a D-10 to shove our 48" diameter Black Cherry stump out of the big hole I dug around it. :confused2:

Brought home a new to me 2009 Timberwolf TW-24C conveyor today. It hasn't had a whole lotta use. I think this'll compliment my TW5 very nicely.

I figure this is as good a thread to ask this question as any (haven't read all 4000+ posts). I've gone through several cheap log splitters and am looking to buy my next and hopefully last. Need a heavy duty model to split large diameter hardwood and welcome suggestions.

I've got a Wallenstien 25 ton log splitter. Mine flips up as well as lays flat. I bought it new in 2011. I also got the bolt on 4 way wedge that works well. I Believe it is a 640. I really like it and it won't break the bank.
