This weekend I skidded/winched out both firewood and saw logs,
Once I had the saw logs out of the way, I held the firewood logs/tree's over my wagon to be cut into firewood length,
And the works not done, I have more to get out,
and these are fair sized tree's...
They went over in a swamp, so with out a good winch, there's no way to get them out...

My turn to contribute a lil' something. Most of our east coast folks are thinking snow right about now, but I snuck out on Sunday before we got a few inches here in MI ourselves, and got some logs out of the woods. The morning started out crispy in the teens but quickly got up around freezing and nice and sunny. Perfect Logging weather.
We had 60+ mph wind gusts last Wednesday which blew over several dead ash trees. I also had some walnut tops left over from a select cut a few years back that I still wanted to get after. A lot easier to get to now before the thorns and brush grow in (with a vengeance, around here!). Also the ground was pretty much fully thawed and nice and dry.
I don't have a winch or any good way to skid, so I like to buck up 6-8' log lengths and carry them out clean.
I built this big saw buck a fears back to help avoid cutting on the ground. It works... ok.
Got a decent pile of cut rounds accumulating and ready for splitting. My "carport" blew apart in the winds last Wednesday (scratched my truck to ****, ******). Should have known better.
After a few hours of sawing and moving logs, it was time to play around with the puppy and kiddo. New 30x36 shop down the hill there.... still needs concrete and electrical.

That looks like a great place! Sorry to hear about your truck - that just takes the wind out of your sails.

Thanks! Yeah normally the pickup hides in the new garage/shop. But I just happened to leave it out overnight and throughout the windy day because I hadn't yet gotten to unloading those big rounds in the left side of the picture. I didn't have the truck under the carport, but instead to the left and 4-5' away. Thought it was safe.
Oh well, it's mostly white paint atop the truck paint, not so much of deep scratching. At least, I hope. Planning to clay-bar it soon and see how she cleans up.

It was a nice day here today, so among other things, I took the time to go out and get some Blk. Cherry "saw logs" I had set aside,
some of them were pretty nice logs!
One of these days I'll take the time to get all my cherry logs on my BSM, and mill them up...
