Nice looking 5055E. How do you like it? We hunted deer in Kent county MD last fall.

i like it about 180 hrs so far. wish i got the second remote installed when i bought it. and sometimes i wish i had a few more gears. lots of pretty rural land around here.

Yes sir, that is a nice pile of wood! Will you use it for firewood or do you have other plans?

That will all be firewood. I don't have a wood burner, but I finally got tired of handing out $100 bills every time I let friends and neighbors load up their trailers with firewood after I did most of the work felling, bucking, and stacking it....all they had to do was load and split.

Lately they've been getting $65-75 per face cord around here, and I've got so many dead and dying trees that I can't begin to estimate how many full cords it would add up to. The plan is to get a big pile now while the ground is frozen, and then cut them down to rounds, and split as the weather gets better. Besides, it helps me justify such a large machine

Removed a small oak that was a little too close to the shed. It will add a little to the wood pile for next season.

Here is part of an oak I cut last fall. Front end view and back end view. The back is a crate on the forks with tow rows of rounds in it. Their is only a single row in the scoop. It was a good load even though it was dry.

Just as an aside, I had posted this photo on another thread from a friends who's in Northern Russia, showing how they haul wood where she's visiting. Maybe this thread is more suited to it?

Now Mill pics SR, band or blade?

Be careful what you ask for!! lol

Here's some white pine I harvested/milled a year or so ago...

Here's the first white pine of the day and it's a beauty!!

standard.jpg

I counted 110 rings, so it's an old tree for sure!

standard.jpg

My old 268XP sure has been a good saw!

standard.jpg

And with the limbs cut off and the logs sawn out at 16' 6", I started skidding the logs

standard.jpg

Earlier I popped out this HUGE boulder out of our skidding road and rolled it aside, as there was no way around it!

standard.jpg

And with the log skidded out, I loaded it on my "log hauling" running gear,

standard.jpg

So, with two loads loaded, we headed out where i barely made it up "sugar sand hill" without letting out lots of chain!

standard.jpg

But we did make it, clawing our way to the top and headed home where my helper started washing the logs,

standard.jpg

And once again, we had some VERY nice logs!

standard.jpg

I've been VERY busy here! My helper came over and we've been milling some of those HUGE logs!

I'm now targeting 3x8's as much as possible, so I've been milling some "side" lumber at 2 by what ever i can get, to be used in a couple building projects I have coming up!

Here's one log at the "cant" stage,

standard.jpg

And here's the 3x8's, and 2x16" side lumber i got off it,

standard.jpg

To maximize the 3x8's out of a cant,

standard.jpg

I get it down to where I can split it into two 8" wide cants, then rolling them 90* and started taking 3x lumber off,

standard.jpg

Anyway, here's the 3x8's we milled out yesterday,

standard.jpg

Along with all the 5/4 from yesterday and a few days ago,

standard.jpg

all delivered to my customer/friends warehouse and stickered!

standard.jpg

That's a LOT of 3x8's, and a nice stack of 16' 5/4 in the back ground!

standard.jpg

Anyway, the BEST part of "this" story is, I've now filled the entire materials list for this job! With all the delays, it's been going on for over 2 yrs, and the above is only part of the lumber I've milled for this job!
