Am I the only one experiencing difficulty with Tractorbynet today and yesterday? I can use Netscape 3 4 5 no problem, if I try to use Explorer 3 4 or 5 with my Mac the program locks up and I have to force it to quit. Can access all other websites with Explorer as usual. (Using Mac).

How can one website do this when others don't ?

del...

I have not had any problem with TBN and I am using IE 5.5 (but with a real PC). Maybe it's time to toss the Mac!

However, maybe the problem is only related to NON-Registered TBN users.

I am on a mac both here at work and at home with no problems. Try emptying your cashe and dumping all the cookies and see what happens.

You mean a R E A L PC? One that is constantly susceptible to attacks by other computers? You mean one whose operating system is clumped on top of DOS to make it only slightly less cryptic then it's predecessor? That sounds like the ticket!!!!

VON, thanks, that seems to be the ticket. I've often dumped preference files in programs to blow their noses, but as yet haven't had to follow your suggestion. I suppose if there was a cookie file that said don't accept and one that said accept that might have snarled the noodles.

I've been nursing along an old copy of Netscape 3, it was so fast and easy compared to the huge bloated versions, I use IE for tractorbynet it seems to work better and I have it set to open up to tractorbynet. What else could be as important as tractors?

Thanks again for the help.

Possibly, but how are you going to feel after the black helicopters come and carry off your registered tractor? They'll take my tractor away only after they pry my cold hard butt from the seat.

Sounds like a case of multiple browser identity disorder. Time to deinstall 4 or 5 of those browsers and try again!! Modern software engineering doesn't take account of wanting to have multiple versions of software peacefully coexisting.

Uh oh...black helicopters.

The only guy I know who talked about black helicopters was the same guy who bought tons of rice and water to store for the big Y2K NON-event.

You don't fall in that category do you del...?

Gatorboy,

You may laugh at me, my 6500 gallons of drinking water, 35 generators, but I'll have the last laugh, as I am REALLY PREPARED for Dec 31, 2999!

I have stopped using Netscape and IE and now use Opera. You can open different windows on different web pages and there are some great mouse shortcuts. You can download it free from Opera. One of the best things is that it is much faster than the others, ask John Miller III if you don't believe me.

Re: Opera

Yes, Opera is FREE for the version with advertising. If you don't want the advertising, you have to BUY it for $39.

Not really sure of the speed of it. That really depends on your connection speed. It can't suck those bits in any faster.

I have downloaded it, and will play with it occasionally, but I still prefer IE.

I don't really mind the advertising as it isn't obtrusive, if it really got to me I would download ad muncher or one of the other utilities that the guys in the office use to get rid of it. I must admit that I was sceptical when I was told that it was faster, but was convinced when we ran them side by side.

I think the biggest advantage for me is that I can have several web sites open at the same time and switch between them. I have to spend a lot of my time during the day on the web so anything which makes it easier is most welcome. At the end of the day it is all down to personal preference /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

You can do the same with IE and Netscape. I always have multiple screens running at the same time -- doesn't everyone?

Re: Opera

I have tried using Netscape and IE with multiple windows but have found it very s-l-o-w. At the end of the day it all depends on what suits an individual and their particular setup, Opera works best for me 98% of the time. When that doesn't work I try Netscape and as a last resort IE.

Re: Opera

Hey Muhammad!

Your screen looks alot like mine (especially the taskbar)! And with my 1.5 Ghz machine and cable modem, I don't notice ANYTHING being slow.

Re: Opera

Dave, living off out in the country with barbed wire for phone lines, I frequently have a couple of screens going at the same time, too. That's so I can be reading one while I'm waiting on the other one to load./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif And I usually have plenty of time to do my reading, too.
