tractor wont turn over

i have a john deere 240 kseries engine 14hp.engine wont turn over tried jump starting,didnt help.in the past if i juggled the shifter it would engage,but no longer the case.neutral safety switch? if so ,where is it located and can i bypass to test it?

ya sounds like nuetral safety switch given the info stated. could be a seat safety switch or the one on the brakes.. either way the nuetral safety switch should be a switch located up against the shift lever behind the dash. will have 2 wires usually orange and purple
