Have a Ford 4630.
Was doing a little tilling yesterday and all a sudden it started sputtering ,than smoking (white and could smell diesel) then it died.
So I check to make sure I'm getting fuel and I find lots of water instead.
Well I drain fuel, change filter, bleed everything up to pump, open bleeder valve on side of pump, water comes out there also.
Get water out of pump as best I could tell, now it won't pump up to injector. Can' even get fuel to come out of bleeder vale on pump.
What's going on ?Any Idea's?
I know it takes a bunch of cranking to get pump going, but will It wear a battery down doing it ?

How many hours on the tractor?
Assuming someone didnt dump several gallons of water in your fuel:
White smoke alone sometimes indicates a pump or injector issue but since you're getting water in the fuel also it sounds like, could account for the white smoke but also a more serious problem.
Do a compression check first off, it could be a blown head gasket, but it may be either a cracked head or block. Of the two, a cracked head usually is more likely.

Sounds like you should also pull off and clean the injector lines and injectors. Then use a hand pump to pressure up the inlet side of the injection pump and see what comes out.

Water in fuel came from the two hundred gallon tank I fill up from .it isn't filtered right(I usually check before I pump).Guess what I didn't do this time?
I got about a half gallon of water out of fuel system.

My guess is water settled to bottom of tank in tractor ran through filters, through pump and to injectors and it shut down because it won't run to good on water.

Main problem is getting fuel to pump up to injectors(opened injector at top getting no fuel up there, cranked ,cranked, cranked.)
I will try to push it trough with hand pump and see what happens.
Thought there might be an easier way to get the pump goin other than wearing out the battery.
