Tractor Weight and Backhoe MT125

Is there any reason to remove the backhoe for bucket work if maneuverability isn't an issue? I would think the extra weight and traction would be helpful.

The only reason I take mine off is I need to use my grader blade and trailer ball to move things, other than that, no need to take off the BH.

I have never taken my backhoe off. In the tractor world...weight is your friend.

There is a school of thought that having that much weight hanging that far out isn't the best for the frame, axles, etc. I can't remember which post I saw it in here, but I tend to agree. I don't really like it bouncing around when running over rougher ground.

I take mine off most of the time due to space issues ... maneuverability, close quarters, etc. That and mowing ... I don't need that weight when running over softer lawn areas.

I have a 600 pound tiller I can put back there for extra weight if I feel I need it. Weight is closer to the axle too. I also have all four tires filled with Rimguard.

If the manual does not specify operatling conditions that require removal of the backhoe, and you want to keep it on, go for it.

I have taken my BH off once in 33 years.....to paint it, and the tractor!
