Interesting Article here, a pickup truck entered a U-turn and struck a DOT tractor that was driving down the median pulling a seeder. I believe it is a Ford tractor, not sure of the model though.

Interestingly the tractor driver had just recently taken a safety class that said it was safer to travel the median than the shoulder.

I'm not sure how long the link will work and have made a PDF of the page, however I'm not sure if copyright laws allow that, moderators please kill the attachment if it is not allowed.

Amazing. From the pictures, I would have expected the tractor driver to have the more serious, if not fatal, injuries. The pickup truck is far more intact than the tractor.

Makes you wonder how fast the truck was going when it struck the tractor. Tractor driver is one lucky person!

Im guessing his foot slipped off the brake onto the accelerator in the collision.

Looks like it could have been a 5640 / 5610 type

Dunno but it looked yellar to me!!:D

Our county only uses ford tractors for mowing and roadside maint. They mainly use 5610/6610/7610 S series, and 7740's Most o fthe 7740's are painted that industrial buff. I'm not sure if they are ordered that way.. or repainted by the county. ( but we got lots of em' like that.. )

dgl24087,

Seatbelts thats why. They really do work. The guy in the pickup was not wearing his. No seatbelts plus basic physics says pickup truck hits stuff and stops but driver keeps going and hits stuff (with head). Hope the guy recovers, but sounds like he's in a bit of trouble when he does.

No question the belted tractor driver is extremely lucky though.

This was a surprisingly well done new article. Well written with all the important stuff and very little room to put it. Even a drawing. Nice job by the journalist.
