Trying to push out an old tree that had fallen and since the ground is a little soft the back tires started sinking in. Either way I went it would just go deeper. Didn't have my shovel to try and dig it out so I will have to try it tomorrow. Anyone with some helpful info would be greatly apprieated. Thanks.

How about chaining a fence post to a rear tire, engage differential lock and have at it. If enough chain, then soften the rear tire and get it to wrap in the middle of the rim. Drop the 3pt arms to level of the drawbar, add a ring to the drawbar with the chain thru it, other end of chain in a ground anchor, when you pull up the lift arms the tractor will be pulled out.

The fence post trick will work, but is a last resort.
I would dig a gradual ramp out and dig out all the humps of dirt from behind the front / rear tires. If you can, jack up the wheels and slide a 2x6 under them to keep from sinking more. More work, but less potential down sides.
Hot tip, when you think you've dug enough and are ready to try it. Take a 15 min break and then come back and dig / prep with boards and what not for an extra 30-60 minutes. If you get antsie and try when it's not ready you will be that much closer to setting the belly on the ground and that's a whole lot more digging!

an old off-roader technique used prior to nylon tow straps, and it works very well. It relies upon the inertial momentum of the towing mass just like a "snatch" strap, as opposed to raw traction or horsepower, and it applies zero shock load to either vehicle.
You will need 2 chains, with a total combined length capable of reaching from the towing to the towed vehicle, and 1 old used tire(no rim). Attach #1 chain to the stuck vehicle and to the tire. Attach #2 chain to the towing vehicle and the tire. The finished setup goes chain-tire-chain.
The chains and tire will look like this:
Towed []----------O-----------[] Towing
Once all is attached, with a driver in both vehicles, the towing vehicle simply drives away accelerating to about 5 -10 mph.
The elasticity of the tire smoothly transfers inertial force to the towed vehicle and out you come. The tire absorbs all of the shock load. Disclaimer: Non-essential people stand clear.

! Many of us have gotten ourselves stuck myself included (more than once ). We do not have any information as to what type of tractor you have and what accesories. Do you have a FEL and/or a back hoe? You could use these to claw/curl your way back out. You could use a come-a-long attached to a solid object or a large danforth type anchor. The other posters offer other possible solutions and I am sure more will come. Good luck- Jay

Will you frontend loader lift the front tires off the ground enough to get something under the tires...will save you alot of digging...might have to dig and jack the rear up and fill the ruts,than slowly try going backward and curling the bucket outward,for that little extra push.

You might try using the bucket and chain this way. Put the bucket in full dump, attach chain routing it under lip of bucket and fasten to something behind you, then as you back up curl the bucket, has gotten me out several times and the curl function of most loaders is pretty strong.

Well I got her out! Alot of digging and the FEL came into play but she came out. Tried using the FEL to push backwards but it was stuck with mud up to the differential on the rear axil. Used the FEL to pull forward and was finally abel to get out. Now she needs a good washing. Thanks for all of the input.
