Tractor Split - Disconnections

I’d use pipe paste if it were me, tape you have a chance (small chance ,still a chance) of a piece getting into the system and causing issues with valves and such sticking.

My older JD 2030 has aluminum washers, my JD 6415 has o rings on the drain plugs.

Thanks for the tips!

My hydraulic plug is just a plug... no washers. The engine oil plugs have o-rings built into the washers. I used just a small bit of RTV on the threads near the heads and and they seem to seal just fine.

Thanks again.

OK, now I'm on to disconnecting the fuel lines.

There are 2 fuel lines that come from the the tank to the front section of the tractor:

First line comes from the bottom of the tank forward to the fuel pump and filter and then on to the injector pump on the engine. I can pinch and split this line and later reconnect with a fitting.

The second line comes from the top of the tank and goes to the aft injector on the engine, is daisy chained with piping through the other injectors and then on to the injector pump. This line is very hard to reach so I can't easily pinch and split this line as I can't get to it. I can, however, easily disconnect this line at the aft injector.

What bad happens from disconnecting this line at the aft injector?

Thanks!

Nothing, that is the overflow line for any extra fuel from the injectors. It won't hurt anything to disconnect and reconnect it.
