tractor shuts down

/ tractor shuts down #21
This is a tractor and not a lawn mower and unless they've changed I can't see why you would every have one, now maybe the Kubota tractors use one but my year Mahindra doesn't have one and if it did I would disable it. Can't imagine having to restart the engine every time I get off, talk about being hard on the engine.

I think mine has one somewhere.. in fact I KNOW it does.. If you have it in gear and get up off the seat, the engine will shut down. I bet your Mahindra has one (or had one) if its relatively new. I would think that if the OP tractor is fairly new, it may have one also.
Due to all the lawsuit happy people in the world, I think EVERYTHING with wheels has too many safety shutdown devices these days..

Well from his postings his 2015 tractor appears to have been brought sometime in 2005 and I got mind in 2006 and like I said my tractor has no wiring for a safety switch, even the service manual doesn't show anything. So I think that could be ruled out unless it only applies to the size of tractor. If he's correct and only has 100 hrs then I wonder how good is the fuel that's in the tank and another issue is the battery and the cable connection, I clean mind every season and make sure there tight.

Did some more checking and it seems the Kubota line does have safety switches installed in the seats.

My tractor has a seat switch but it gets bypassed when parking brake is set. There is also a short timer so you have to be off the seat for several second before the engine shuts down.

Wow, I'd be ticked if I had a seat switch with no bypass. Would make running my PTO generator a PITA lol

Not sure if I can run the PTO off the seat.. havent tried it yet but I bet I can..... but I KNOW if the tractor is in gear and moving and you come offf the seat for a couple of seconds, it shuts off the fuel and kills the engine.

That BLACK sludge may be Diesel bugs growing. You need to add a biocide to kill the bugs.

Bugs in diesel? Gee, bed bugs, termite bugs, lime disease bugs etc. etc. I'm getting sick of hearing about new bugs. Sometime I wonder, DDT was a strong killer. On second thought. the prevention of disease from ticks, mosquitos etc. might be prefered over threat of DDT.

I'm just speculating here so please don't get mad at me.

Tired of bugs...........Coffeeman

I have a 4510 that does that on occasion for no apparent reason. I know it is not fuel or filter. I suspect electrical/solenoid. I will just try it later and it works OK. It has happened about 3 times the last year.
