I know, they're not really comparable to each other. But here's the deal: I went to the Mahindra dealer to look at the 2015 HST, a competitor of the CK20. Dealer says he needs to move the 2810 off the lot. Bottom line, 2810, FEL, Howse 5' brush hog, Howse 5' boxblade, and disk for $15,400 out the door. The deal on the CK20, which is what I thought I was going to get, is loader, 4' hog, boxblade, and disk for $14,500. I drove the 2810; kinda stiff gearshift...other than that, I can live without the HST. So I'm thinking I'll spend the extra $900 for the much bigger tractor. By the way, is it supposed to be a little tough to change gears?

Regarding the gears, It will wear in and become easier over time. Now that you are questioning yourself, now go back and look at a 3510. ....you're gonna really hate me, cause you're gonna want it. I have the 6000 MFWD with FEL/shuttle shift. I noted that the sychcro gears were "stiff" when it was new. Now that it has over 50 hours, its just more synchro...

This was my first time to ever actually sit on a tractor. So I didn't know what to expect. I was really surprised at how stiff the gearshift was. I'm used to my VW Golf TDI, which might continue to be a little smoother than the tractor, even when it's broke in. :)

And no, I'm not going to sit on a 3510. I know what will happen.

As has been stated many times, there's not a "wrong" choice when comparing what most consider to be quality equipment. When I was shopping, the LK3054 was about the same price as the gear drive 2810. Maybe worthwhile to check the price on this if you prefer a Kioti? That would be an apples to apples comparison.

I left home pulling a trailer to buy one of these two before I came back. The Mahindra guy was smart enough to convince me to "just take the HST and keep it a few days". It never went back /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hard shifting may be because Mahindra compacts are not syncro in all gears.

PS Both tractors are quality units

What does "not synchro in all gears" mean? By the way, I forgot to mention that the price includes a heavy duty tooth bar for the loader. I called around and got a couple of local prices: $16,400 and $15,900 (with Bush Hog brand brush cutter). So it's looking like I'm getting a fair deal.

I think in the long run you would be better off going with the Kioti.I know a Kioti dealer who won't even take a Mahindra in trade.Of coarse my opinion may be a little biasd /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I can't speak to the Mahindra, that said I just bought my first tractor. I lived most of my life right next to my neighbor in a big city. Moved to the county about 4 years ago and did without a tractor till now. I looked hard at the CK20 and 1914. but kept asking myself if they would have enough horsepower for everything I wanted to do. I started looking at the Kioti 3054 and after much research and lots of conversations bought one. I also got a FEL, box blade, post hole digger, tiller, 5' finish mower and backhoe. I am super glad that went with the 30.5 hp. It backhoes like a dream even in rocky soil (We live in a place called Loma Rica we call it Loma Rocka) . Bottom line regardless of the tractor brand, if you think you want a 20 HP, go for the next size up, cause you never know what the fulture holds

Thanks JFP, I'm leaning toward what you did. There's no point in getting less tractor for about the same amount of money. That's a great looking tractor on a nice piece of land. Congratulations on all of that. How much land are you working on there?

"Hard shifting may be because Mahindra compacts are not syncro in all gears."

Chipperman, what do you mean by that? I thought the 2810 was a synchro/shuttle shifter. It's got gears 1-4, high-medium-low ranges, and a lever for forward and reverse. Is this considered to be a straight gear transmission or is this shuttle? Help please.
