Has anyone else seen the ads on RFD TV (Channel 379 on Direct-TV) for a tractor selection program to be aired Monday, February 21st at 8:00 PM EST?

The program is sponsored by John Deere and is supposed to be a guide for the selection of tractors and implements for rural properties. The tone of the ad indicated to me that it would focus on their line of consumer products (Gators, Utility Tractors, Compacts, Sub Compacts).

Hopefully, it will provide some solid information to help folks choose the appropriate size tractor and attachments.

Ain't it nice to have a real "REALITY SHOW" to watch on T.V. I, for one, am sick to death of the stuff I see on the tube anymore . RFD TV has some great and informative shows .

It looks to be a John Deere infomercial but I will watch anyway. Thanks

Deere did a good job but the older Guy (Plant MGR) saved the 2 city slickers when the AG questions started being asked. 70 HP on a post hole digger, /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
Max took a shot at non-Anglo sounding tractor brands. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Max's blood is IH Red but he sure knows where his bread is buttered, Green eggs & Ham.

Fairly good show. Two improvements would have been to show more models starting with the 2210, 3000 series, etc.
Second improvement would have been to have a representative from a dealership, whether it would have been a sales person or service person. Just my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was sure looking forward to the show, but I was a little disappointed. Some of the advice they were giving at times, I didn't think they were too helpful. They seemed to beat around the bush at times by just suggesting to talk to the dealer. I don't think there was ever a definate answer to the toolbox question.

Disappointed but not surprised, it was an INFO MERCIAL, the Deere reps were more suited for spin control rather than actual knowledge. The phone-in questions really hurt them, the best spin of the night was in response to Deere being foreign made. They would have been better represented if they had a "REAL" dealer to answer the questions.

You didn't miss too much as I was also disappointed. I will admit one thing that long slow pan and camera movement pulling you toward the John Deer made me want to jump up, run out, and fire up the New Holland TC-40D. Deere?, no not me folks.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The show should have been done at a well stocked dealership to show more products and with well informed sales people. The answers the Deere reps gave were vague at best. I hope this was a good learning experience for Deere and RFD-tv and the next show will hopefully be better. The best parts of the show were the Deere commercials at the breaks.

I agree with you, viking65, it would have been a better show as a production of various models and implements doing work much like the action in the Deere advertisements. (picture those pickup ads where they are doing "real" work slogging through mud & pulling stuff)
Going live sort of started slow and got slower towards the call-in session. It seemed like most of those questions were softball questions. And they certainly stressed "....your local dealer..." just as they do on their website.
They should have just let a local dealer make the production. At least there is one tractor infomercial in the can. Now if some other brand will make a better one.

As I recall, when asked it it was foreign made, the reply was that they are indeed assembles in the US. I guess you have to read between the lines if you want to know where the parts are made.

I believe there was some mention of Mexican made assemblies.
