A 83 year-old man was killed last week when his garden tractor fell on him. The man used his NH 1920 with FEL with a chain to lift his garden tractor for service when the chain came loose and fell over on the elderly man.

I am 35 and I have used this technique several times to sharpen the blades on my garden tractor. You just never know when things will go wrong.

I do this myself, but once the my zero turn is raised, a floor jack and jack stands go under the deck and frame. Can't be too careful.

Agree-
Jack stands are cheap insurance against that type of accident. I use them also under my bushhog when I raise it on the 3pt to sharpen the blades.

I've got jack stands but most often I set one of my steel frame welding tables on its side and slide it under to give more height and stability than the jackstands. I then lower the load so the "auxillary" support is taking weight and can't flip out should a hydraulic hose fail or the dog jump onto the seat and hit the joystick on his way by......
