Wow I would be steamed if I had the other type.

Update on 50 hr

I decided to break it up and just do the oil only - will do hydro this coming weekend.

I wonder if others had as much fun pulling the oil filter.... I ended up dismounting the fuel sediment bowl to have enough room to work the filter wrench - and that sucker was on TIGHT. Even with the bowl off it was a fight. Finally got it by using some of that rubber grip cloth wrapped on it AND the filter wrench.

Wow, you aint joking there. That thing was a PITA.
I ended up using a pair of large 'finger' vise grips moving it 1\10 of a turn each time.
And no way to catch any oil out of it.

The fuel filter was a little better, but still a PITA.

Today will be the hyd, as soon as this pesky drizzle stops.

Ditto on that original oil filter on my 2320! That sucker was stuck! Also the new filter and the old one were different sizes. When I bought the new filter I also got a cap wrench to loosen the filter. Wouldn't you know it the darn thing would not fit the original filter, but did fit the new filter ! Glad no one was around to here those colorful words.

Well, that drizzle never did stop that day, so it was put off till today.

A little item the manual didn't mention was the fact the r/s brake rod must be disconnected (just at the rear) to get the hyd screen out.

But I can finally say I'm done with my 50 hr service.

Summary of the 790 50 hr service

To get any reasonable working room when removing the engine oil filter, remove the fuel sediment bowl assembly (just one bolt) and it will allow access.

Get the rubber stap wrench for filter removal. One size fits all and has good gripping capacity.

Linkage does have to be disassembled to remove the suction screen - you may want to have a replacement cotter pin.

I have yet to figure a way to capture that initial flow of hydralic fluid - serious mess.
